SQE Assessment Dates and Timetable

Understanding the SQE exam timetable is crucial for your SQE exam strategy and overall preparation planning.

SQE1 assessments take place each year in January and July. The SQE1 January assessment window has closed, with results released on 10th March 2026. The SQE1 July 2026 assessment dates are 13th – 17th July 2026 for FLK1, and 20th – 24th July 2026. The examinable law and practice cut off date is up to 13th March 2026. Results will be released on 8th September 2026.

The SQE2 October 2025 cohort results will be released on 24th February.

The upcoming SQE2 April assessment dates are 28 – 30th April for the written, and 5 – 15 May for oral exams. The examinable law and practice cut off date is up to 28th December 2025. Booking closes for this assessment window on 20th March 2026.

Some Considerations about Booking your Assessments

Make sure you plan your assessment dates effectively:

  • Advanced Planning: The SRA typically releases dates 12–18 months in advance
  • Early Booking: Popular centres fill up quickly (London and Manchester especially)
  • Location Flexibility: Sometimes slightly further locations have better availability
  • Timeline Planning: Work backwards from when you want to qualify, then plan your preparation timeline
  • Scheduling Flexibility: Allow adequate time between SQE1 and SQE2

Remember, you cannot sit SQE2 until you have passed SQE1, so plan your timeline accordingly. Having multiple opportunities throughout the year provides flexibility in your preparation schedule.
