Privacy Policy
At Revise SQE, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we use it, who we may share it with and the rights you have in relation to it.
Revise SQE is an imprint of Fink Publishing Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 05204097, with its registered office at 10 High Croft, Exeter, EX4 4JQ.
Fink Publishing Ltd is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
What information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use our website and services.
If you place an order, this may include your:
- name;
- email address;
- billing and delivery address;
- details of the products you have ordered;
- order value, payment status and transaction information; and
- delivery and fulfilment information.
We do not receive or hold your full payment card details. These are handled by Shopify Payments or the relevant payment provider.
If you contact us or complete a form on our website, we may collect the information you provide in the form, together with information such as the date and time of your submission and your IP address.
If you use our website, we may also collect technical information through cookies and analytics tools. See Cookies and analytics below.
If you purchase an ebook or audiobook, we use your email address and information about the digital products you have purchased to provide and manage your digital access.
How we use your information
We use personal information where necessary to:
- process and fulfil your orders;
- deliver printed books and provide access to ebooks and audiobooks;
- communicate with you about your order;
- provide customer service and respond to enquiries;
- process refunds and resolve problems;
- maintain appropriate financial, tax and business records;
- administer affiliate and referral arrangements;
- operate, maintain and understand the use of our website and services; and
- send you marketing communications where you have chosen to receive them.
Our legal basis for using your information
We only use personal information where we have a lawful basis for doing so.
This will usually be because:
- it is necessary to fulfil our contract with you, for example to process an order, deliver a book or provide digital access;
- we need to comply with a legal obligation, including certain financial, tax and record-keeping requirements;
- you have given us your consent, for example to receive email marketing; or
- it is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as providing customer service, maintaining and improving our services, preventing misuse and administering our business, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Who we share your information with
We only share personal information where it is necessary to provide our products and services, operate our business or meet our legal obligations.
Depending on how you use our services, this may include:
Shopify and payment providers, which operate our checkout and process payments.
Hobbs the Printers, which fulfils orders and provides customer service on our behalf.
Delivery carriers, which receive the information needed to deliver printed books.
Kotobee, which provides the Revise SQE digital platform. For digital purchases, your email address and relevant book/access information are used to create and manage your digital access.
Make.com, which is used to transfer relevant order information from Shopify to Hobbs' systems for fulfilment and customer service.
EAS/EasProject, which has controlled access to information required for VAT and IOSS reporting.
UpPromote, which is used to attribute orders made through affiliate and referral links or codes.
Mailchimp, which we use for email marketing. Customers are not automatically subscribed to marketing simply because they place an order. Where our Shopify/Mailchimp integration is used, customers who actively choose to receive marketing may be added to our Mailchimp mailing list.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
Marketing
You can choose to receive news, product information and other marketing emails from Revise SQE.
Where a marketing opt-in is offered at checkout, the box is not pre-selected. You will only be subscribed if you actively choose to receive marketing.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in our marketing emails.
You may also sign up for our newsletter directly through our website.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website and understand how it is used.
Google Analytics is used on the WordPress part of our website to provide information about website usage.
UpPromote is used for affiliate and referral attribution, including preserving referral information as a customer moves through to Shopify checkout.
Some cookies are necessary for the website and checkout to function. Other cookies or similar technologies may require your consent.
Contact forms
If you contact us through a form on the Revise SQE website, we collect the information you enter in that form. Our website currently also records the date and time of the submission and your IP address.
We use this information to respond to your enquiry and administer our customer service.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.
Order-related information held through our Shopify/Hobbs systems is generally retained for approximately seven years in line with accounting and record-keeping requirements. After the applicable retention period, information may be deleted or anonymised in accordance with the relevant systems and processes.
Other information may be kept for different periods depending on why it was collected.
Personal information submitted through our Gravity Forms is generally retained for 12 months from the date of submission, after which it is securely deleted, unless a longer retention period is required for legal, accounting or other legitimate purposes.
International data transfers
Some of the service providers we use may process personal information outside the UK.
Where personal information is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards are used in accordance with applicable data protection law.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, data protection law gives you rights in relation to your personal information. These may include the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask us to delete your personal information in certain circumstances;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances;
- object to certain uses of your personal information;
- receive certain information in a portable format; and
- withdraw your consent where we rely on consent to use your information.
These rights do not apply in every situation, and in some cases we may need to retain information despite a request for deletion, for example where we have a legal obligation to keep it.
If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we use your personal information, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve it.
You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services, systems or legal obligations.
The latest version will always be available on our website.
