In this post and subsequent posts, we will discuss #SQE assessments in a little more detail providing you with tips and tricks that will assist you.
As you will be aware from our previous posts, the #SQE1 assessments are single best answer, multiple choice questions (MCQS)
Your first mistake in preparing, would be to think that MCQS require little preparation as they are easy, I can assure you that is the wrong approach. The #SQE1 MCQS are not straightforward at all, they require you to choose from a possible five options,  the single best answer which is not easy when all five possible answers can potentially be correct. The difficulty here,  is choosing why one out of the five is the best answer. That might for example be due to a slight word change that makes it a better fit or ‘single best’ answer compared to the other options.
So you might be asking,  how can this be learnt? Well, the best way to learn is through practice. The more you do, the better you will be.
Our Revise Series provides you with MCQS that map to the SQE1  specification, very important when looking to practice your single best answer technique , please be careful what you purchase as some materials available are not mapped to the actual specification you are being assessed on, do your homework and don’t waste your money.
The SQE1 assessments cover foundations of legal knowledge 1(FLK1) and foundations of legal knowledge 2 (FLK2).
You will know from previous posts that you will sit FLK1 paper first, followed by the FLK2 paper.
Let’s break it down, FLK1 consists of two papers. Your first paper will consist of 90 single best MCQS you will then take an hours break before completing the second FLK1 paper which consists of a further 90 questions.  That is a total of 180 MCQS.
FLK2 papers are sat on another day, following the same process as set out above.
That is a total of 360 single best answer MCQS. As you can imagine, that is a lot of knowledge to learn  and an awful lot of questions . It can be very draining therefore it is important to have a good technique to approach the questions and plan of action when it comes to managing your time.
Our next post will provide tips and support on how to approach the questions effectively and how you can realistically manage your time.
